I know this might be the equivalent of asking for the tab to "smoke on the water" but can someone post the intro lick to WMB. I got it mostly, but sometimes my ears hear it a tad different. Also do ya'll play it in E or A, I saw a book and it showed it in E, which is what i started playing it in til i learned the rythym lick in A ....thanks

I'm trying to learn it as well - jammed on it with Tele62 (who's now playing with my band  ) and he showed it to me, but I'm not all that familiar with it. We played it in A.

Here are 2 variations of tab I pulled off the net. I have no idea which one is better (or even if they are close to correct), as I haven't had time to work it out, plus I don't have a recording of it yet :( Sorry for the line spacing...

Intro #1
E---------------------------------------------------------|
B---------------------------------------------------------|
G----------------------------5h6-7-5h6-7-5/6-5h6-7-5h6----|
D----5-x-7-x-7-5-------------5---7-5---7-4/5-5---7-5------|
A-5h7-----------x-7-x-x--3b-0-----0---0-0---0-----0------0|
E-----------------------------------------------------3b--|

Or

Intro #2
e----------------------------------------------------------
b----------------------------------5---7-----5---7-7---5---
g----------------------------------5h6-7-----5h6-7-7---5h6-
d----------5-7-5-------------------5---7-----5---7-7---5---
a-5slide-7-------7slide5..3b3b--0--------------------------
e----------------------------------------------------------

Cheers,
Doug

Sorry for the line spacing...

Try outlining your tab with the CODE tags. It'll preserve the spacing:

IE:

-123----------------------
------456-----------------
----------789-------------
--------------123---------
------------------456-----
----------------------789-

For what its worth, there is really nice tablature for it at http://www.frettedinstrumentsnyc.com (one of my favorite tablature sites). This piece is on my list of things I want to learn (but have not gotten to yet).

The band I play it in does it in A.

The key is to pick the string with both your pick and your finger at the same time on the same string with a staccato attack.

This is chicken pickin'. I hear a lot of people calling general country guitar playing chicken pickin' but this is what it is. Takes a while if you have never done it before.

The Country Guitar Bible has a tab of the song and shows that it was played in the E position with a capo at the 4th fret.
