Soulgolem January 23rd, 2006, 04:25 PM Hello, I'm looking to replace all components in my 1987 MIJ Basswood tele. I used to like this guitar a lot, but it needs a lot of fixes now, I'll probably get Glendale's bridge and twang saddles and new pickups. I currently have a humbucker thinline tele and another tele i'm building which will have the harmonic design Z-90 p90 type pickups which are said to have fairly high output.
I would like to incorporate my revived japanese tele into my live playing but i want pickups that will not drastically change the output of my amp, so I guess I need a set with high ouput, not sure where to look for that. I want something that retains the Tele twang and single coil feel that and sounds good both clean and dirty, without piercing highs, price is not a problem.
Any suggestions ?
Francis.
Also, how do you rate the output, is the wound value directly relative to the output (higher wound = higher output ) ?
JamonHamon January 23rd, 2006, 07:27 PM Kinman avn60s These pickups twang like crazy, I have never heard any better, My guitar tech in Los angele's says don't waste your money, Buy KINMAN. these pickups sound so good, chime, twang, tone, buttery, hollow, and a brightness with depth, You will not believe your ears the first time you here yourself. It's all in there just set your amp and your there. Dale Hamon
Soulgolem January 23rd, 2006, 08:21 PM Well Kinman's are not very high output are they ? That's my priority right now, I'll have to push two Vox AC15's onstage, so I can't see myself playing the gain know whenever I change guitars. But I need that sweet while twangy Tele sound.

Francis.KINMAN are HI OUTPUT, They may not be as WARM as you want but these KINMAN are very load and soulful don't forget these KINMAN are humbuckers, And your amp will have to be turned down to match most pickups. Dale Hamon

MBradford6288 January 23rd, 2006, 11:31 PM Absolutley the greatest sounging tele pups. Super hot. Super spank.
Soulgolem January 24th, 2006, 01:14 AM About Kinman's, I did email him a while ago concerning the output and he told me they would still be far from a low output humbucker.
As for the harmonic design and rio grande, how can you rate their output ? Which one has the best Tele twang and sound ?
MBradford6288 January 24th, 2006, 01:23 AM The muy grande has about 10 ohms a coil. Great twang and kick, and great vibe clean or distorted.
franchelB January 29th, 2006, 10:26 AM FWIW, I've had my Rio Grande "Muy" in my Tele bridge since 1994...I haven't had an urge to switch to another brand of Tele bridge pickup. It sounded nice when I plugged it in to my Fender M-80 (90 solid state watt) amp, but it sounds even better when I plug it in to my Peavey Delta Blues (30 tube watts) amp.

Soulgolem January 29th, 2006, 11:13 AM Can you put a cover over the neck single coil of the muy grande ?
Francis.
