Hi guys, newbie m2 here.
So first off a big thank you to all of you who have reviewed all the pickups here. Without your info I wouldn't have known where to even start. I'm actually a saxplayer, making money by engineering full time. Just love electrics though, especially this one....!
I'm a Nashville owner, and a proud one! I just installed some Duncans in it since I never really cared for the TexMex pups in it.
Neck - STR-1 (vintage)
Mid - SSL-1 (vintage strat)
Bridge - STL-1
Bridge - STL-1b (broadcaster)
I went back and forth between the vintage 54 and the broadcaster but ended up with the latter. A much sweeter sound and it really makes the Nashville more balanced I feel. The bridge/mid position sounds more stratty to me which was what I was looking to get out of that combo anyways.
I think the vintage 54 was more twangy. Maybe a more 'typical' twangy tele sound. And I did like its agressiveness. But it kind of overtook the bridge/mid position a bit - a bit over the top and less stratty. Anyways, very happy now.
I have a question though, and I hope you could help me (and I have read the forums and searched).
I currently have it rewired to get the bridge/neck combo but I'd like to add a toggle instead, giving me the 'strat' combo's plus the bridge/neck and 'all' combos. What I'm not understanding here is which switch to use.
I've checked the fender site for the hookup of the American Deluxe Telecaster that has the switch (0037408000).
Is this what's called a dpdt?
Isn't it only using 'half' of it?
Would a regular spst work?
I'm only doing the following, right:
putting a jumper between the bridge lug bottom side (where all the pup wires go) to the top side closest to that lug on the switch; then go from the "other end" - the top side of the "output" lug - to the switch; and then from the switch to the volume pot, yes?
Seems like the switch only needs to either make or brake that connection. SPST?
I'd love it if anyone could clarify this. Otherwise I'll just try it, which is no big deal I guess....
Anyways,
thanks people,
m2
