I've wanted a bender equipped Les Paul for a long time now but never knew how to make it come about without a lot of expense. I looked into having a P/W installed but I didn't want to ruin the guitar with a routing of the body. I tried a HipShot which worked very well but I wanted a G-bender on it too. I have a Bigsby Palm Pedal on an Ibanez Artist which I've had for years and to my surprise I found another old P/P unit in one of my junk boxes that I'd forgotten I had. I installed it on the LP and took it to the gig last night and it was a total blast! I had my P/W equipped Tele also but I wound up playing the old Paul about 80% of the time. On the Bigsby Palm Pedal website it says that a Les Paul isn't a good choice for a bender guitar because of the curvature of the body or something but the unit screws right in and bends a little to fit the curve. With a little graphite in the nut and bridge slots it was up and running. I also thought I'd have some trouble with grounding as the Ibanez Artist was grounded at the stud tailpiece so I had to have a new ground wire installed, but the Paul must be grounded at the bridge because I got no buzz or anything when I removed the stud tailpiece. I can't wait to play tonight and use this baby again......JH in Va.
