trag-o-caster August 21st, 2005, 02:02 PM Well, well, my buddy that recently bought an immaculate 75 SFDR, and installed the 100 watt Celestion, has just decided to trade it to me for this old Peavey Classic 50 head and 4x10 cab that I've had sitting around here un-used for years. I just powered 'er up, and everything still works like brand new.
The deal is that we're going to swap, and I'll give him $400 cash on top of the deal.
And THENNNNNNN.......
Since I already have two DR's, my other friend - with the barn full of amps - wants to trade me his Bassbreaker for my other friends SFDR. He also has a nice 74 DR, and want to run two of 'em together. So I'm pretty certain that I'll go ahead with that deal too. I know, I know - PCB construction and all - but I really don't need three DR's. Also, I've used that Bassbreaker WAYYYY more than he has over the years, and have gotten to know it pretty well.
I'll keep y'all posted.
trag-o-caster August 22nd, 2005, 12:46 AM The DR is here right now, and the Classic 50 is gone. I haven't swapped for the Bassbreaker yet. I almost offered the guy my 77 DR instead of this one, but the 77 has been re-capped, and all gone through by our own Tim Swartz (thanks Tim!), so I'm not sure about that one yet.
My amp collection looks puny now. The Peavey mini-stack was the biggest thing in my collection. My apartment looks bigger too!
After this, I think I'll be done horse tradin' for awhile.
Joe-Bob August 22nd, 2005, 01:02 AM I've got my GAS under control lately. For the first time in a long time, I'm really happy with my gear.
I really like my new amp, a Crate V3112 with a Tone Tubby hemp speaker. I have a really good set of guitars. My LP is about to get new P-90s, which have been put off for along time. I actually have too many amps ans a Line 6 ext. cab I don't need. So, if anything, I think I'll thin the herd a bit and set aside money for a major quality purchase later on, like a handmade archtop, or a Breedlove acoustic or something.
Tim Swartz August 22nd, 2005, 11:01 AM So you're going to end up with a BassBreaker for a Peavy Classic... Man Tim, you are A+++ horser trader.... BTW, please shoot me an email with your tree-trimmer buddy's phone #, he gave me a good price on getting rid of that huge, nasty cottonwood tree in the back yard and the wife says it's time.
trag-o-caster August 22nd, 2005, 11:42 AM Hey Tim! I'll be calling you up real soon. As you probably can guess, ol' Greg is trading me, not only his Bassbreaker, but also his RI Fender Reverb unit. He REALLY wants this DR BAD! The DR is the 74 that my other buddy, Larry bought a few months ago. For some reason that amp sounds much louder and stronger than all of our other DR's. Hmmm...
I'll probably be sending the Bassbreaker to you for tubes/bias, not to mention the fact that I still need reverb pans for the Fenders.
PM coming your way Tim. Thanks!
trag-o-caster August 22nd, 2005, 07:58 PM Well the deed is done. The Bassbreaker and reverb unit are home safe with me. In a way I'd kinda like to have kept the DR but, as I said, I already have 2, and I don't need a third.
No more tradin' for awhile. I usually like to keep stuff, not trade it around.
Jack Knife August 22nd, 2005, 09:37 PM Oh man, I'd love to get my hands on a Bassbreaker.
Lucky dawg!!

To me they are the best sounding Fender to come out in the last 20 years... including the Custom Shop amps I've played... VibroKing, ToneMaster and Dual Professional.
