add a strat mid to my esquire.

If I've got a seymour duncan in my bridge, on my esquire, can I just add a fender strat neck/mid pickup in the middle position of my esquire, and it be hum canceling? I know thats how it is on my tele. it has a duncan in the bridge, and an original vintage 52 reissue in the neck, and it is hum canceling when I run the two together. I'm thinkin if one or the other is a duncan, and the other is a fender, they will be hum canceling. other wise, if the pickup's are of the same, fender,fender or Duncan,Duncan then I would have to get a rw/rp of the same brand.. to make it hum canceling,Is this correct? thanks, Jerry :)
