I came into possession of a strat copy made by "Stage" Guitars. I did an internet search and only came up with a small snippet that said it was a small guitar making duo from Arlington, Tx in the early 90's. Is anyone familiar with this brand? It sounds pretty darn good too!! The fella who loaned it to me now said I could buy it from him if I found out the fair market value. Any ideas??

I was thinking of giving him about $20 bucks.....

Hmm... interesting question. Should the value of a guitar be based on the reputation of a non-existant company that made it... or should it be based on the guitar itself.

My answer - regardless of the company, non-existant or not, the value of a particular guitar should always be based on the guitar itself.

There is no such thing as a "fair market value".

I see your point Joe but there is FMV on all guitars! It really comes down to what you, the buyer, would want to pay. If your selling a standard, unless you've updated all the hardware, it's selling price would still be what ever they are going for at the time in general.

Even vintage have FMV no?

Discuss......

...texas was still in the good ole' USA so those reviews are not of the brand/make of the guitar that's in my possession. This is american made. And it's made very solid. Maybe someday I will find out the truth. Do I see a new X-files episode??!!

I had to take my amp in for service and the guy I take it to is pretty knowledgable...if I can remember I will ask him if he knows anything about Stage guitars.

Well, I asked about Stage guitars and the only half knowing answer I got was that Laravee(sp?) might have made them in the 80's.

Back around 1989-90 I got a "stage" guitar tele from a store in Rhode Island,it had a natural flamed maple top and mahogony body with one of the best rosewood necks I've had. It was my first electric. My dad paid $125 brand new then. It was a great guitar and I'm sorry I ever traded it for something else. I have not seen one since until just recently on Portland,OR craigslist.

I'm close to Arlington and never heard of them either.
I did find a defunct Ebay ad that started out at $30. and never sold apparently.

If your's is the same it's a CS396 model.
There weren't pics available but some talk of the tremelo arm being broken off.

I am an owner of a Stage guitar. My father bought it used in1993. As to the year it was actually made I don't know. The model of the guitar is CS327. It is a Fender Stratocaster copy. The quality of the guitar is similar to a real stratocaster. I would never sell it since it was a graduation present and has more sentimental value than monetary value.
