I know that Callaham offers 'em in stainless steel, but are there any plated sets available from anyone?

You mean for pickguards etc? Fender sell them in a packets of 20 for $8.79.

but I was thinking of a complete set. Pickguard, neckplate, tuners, string retainer, bridge etc!

Seriously Ron... Why are you having such a problem?

I originally was going to order the Callaham set. It was almost a no-brainer - just add up the costs for individual pickguard screws... neck screws... and just with the prices of those two you're already at the Callaham price for the complete set.

Unfortunately, he has a $25.00 minimum order. I didn't pay attention to that, and when I found items I was originally going to order from Callaham at a better price (such as the ElectroSocket through Stew-Mac) I ordered it. Eventually, all that I had left for a Callaham order was the screws. Not quite the $25.00 order, and I didn't care to see if he would waive it.

Hey... what's the big deal. I searched all over town - Lowes, Home Depot, Ace... you name it. After 3 days I gave up. No one had any slotted screws except the odd brass wood screw.

But today is the age of the internet!! So I searched, searched and searched - a week and a half, using every combination of keywords I could come up with.

I couldn't get much of a hit on nickel slotted... the stainless was above and beyond all screw materials available in slotted - for the majority of the sizes I needed... at least according to some old 0Le Fuzzy posts I found on this forum (I think the fillister screws for intonation might be too long... but I got what he specified).

The #3 sizes - the neck pickup and tuner key screws... I couldn't find anywhere except in brass... unless you want to count the odd zinc plated screw I did find for the neck pickup mounting. I gave up on those - and since the neck pickup mounting is hidden under the pickguard, I stopped wasting my time.

So to make this long story shorter... I now have all slotted stainless for everything visible but the tuners... and right now I may not need screws for the tuners based on the neck I have on the way. I'm still working on that.

But... while I was searching, at least every two out of three places having slotted screws was in the UK. I've never been to the UK... but from a week and a half of web searching, I have the distinct impression that all I would have to do if I was in the UK is go to any neighborhood corner store and I would easily be able to find slotted screws of exactly the type I need.

I'll have a look at UK suppliers! One automatically looks to the US for this sort of thing, but It isn't necessarily there, as you found out! It really isn't crucial anyway!

By the way Ron... you didn't mention if you were going to be putting these on a Tele... I just assumed you were.

The pickguard, control plate to body, and string tree screws are all the same size - #4 x 1/2".

And here are the 0le Fuzzy screw sizes since I lost what post that was:

Broadcaster-height adj. to 1953 6X32 MS round head slotted 1/2 inch.
Telecaster-height adj. 1953 on 6X32 MS round head phillips 1/2 inch .
Telecaster-neck P.U height adj. # 3 WS round head/phillips 1 inch.
Telecaster-intonation (bridge) 6X32 MS fillister head slotted 1 1/2 inch.
Telecaster-bridge height adj. 6X32 MS headless slotted 3/8- 1/2 inch.
Telecaster-bridge plate # 6 WS oval head phillips 7/8 inch.

** edited to quote since it ain't my info

Did you try Angela (http://www.angela.com/catalog/guitar-parts/tele.html)?

I don't know that they have a master set with all the screws for a Tele, but he has lots of screws, including ones with slotted heads and in nickel or chrome plating instead of stainless.
