This recording is just brutal harsh noise workout of the highest order. Totally amazing stuff and prophetic on a number of levels. Are you into Schonberg, and Alban Berg also? Some. I like (mostly) early S'berg. op. 11, op. 19. op. 15, op. 16, Pierrot lunaire... a few others after op. 25, not so much. I like some Berg as well. Though i am not so sure how that related to Variations II, which seems more connected to Tudor's later work, Behrman (who recorded this performance when he worked as an engineer for CBS), Mumma, AMM and then later developments like Voice Crack and Kevin Drumm. This is a live-recording and as far as Teles go - I rank it among the very best, ever - loads of charm! It's cut at a club date at "Adam's Rib" in Washington D C, 4/27/84. The band: Tom Principato - guitar, vocals / Danny Gatton - guitar / John Previti - acoustic & electric bass / Robbie Magruder - drums / Mike Sucher - keyboards. These guys give ample proof of their intelligence and wit in their musical conversation and interplay. In the middle of a tune, one of the guitars starts quoting from another song and the whole band will tag along. They all have total controll of their instruments. Did you ever notice how Leon puts the letter "L" in words that don't have an "L" in them? LOL. PS - I think the "Shelter People" version of "Sweet Emily" is a masterpiece. What a great, great tune. April 2nd, 2009, 03:25 PM I found and downloaded a couple of records I hadn't heard in nearly 30 years. The group is Target, a Memphis band signed to A&M records in the 70's. I used to go hear them live in clubs around Memphis 1973-77. The singer is Jimi Jamison before he became well known with Survivor and as the singer of the theme from Baywatch. He was much harder rocking back then. They sounded a lot like Bad Company. Both records, Target (1976) and Target - Captured (1977), are serious, straight ahead 70's rock. There's not a single throwaway tune on either album.
