Hi all, just joined this forum today.

I've just upgraded the 3 way switch on my '62 japanese tele today, as the original switch is a horrible plastic one.
I've replaced it with a Stentor DM-30 (MIJ) switch.
I've posted a pic of the wiring, could any one please check that I've done it correctly?

Thanks a lot!

Welcome to the forums. Here's the standard wiring diagram for a Tele 3-way. You can compare and confirm from this.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I've wired mine by sort of transfering the original wiring from the old switch to the new. It looks different from the one you have shown, but seems to work fine. I just wondered if the Japanese teles are wired the same USA ones??

I've never wired a MIJ guitar or switch but the wiring should be identical as far as the leads from the pickups are concerned. The hot leads go to the switch as shown and the grounds (earth) to the back of the volume pot. The switch may be different though.

This SD diagram is standard for all Oak-Grisby or CRL switches which are typical of what's used in MIA or MIM guitars and most mods but perhaps that Stentor switch wires differently. I have no experience with it and I really can't see well enough from the pics to tell you one way or another. But if you simply wired it in the same manner as the other and it works it works so there you have it.

If it ain't broke there's nothing to fix.
