I went against my better judgement and bought an on-sale birdseye MM neck (from ebay).
The neck is very beautiful. The frets are great. The tuning holes are correctly spaced and of the correct diameter.
The neck is thin. Less than an off the shelf C. Not even remotely chunky (wasn't expecting chunky - just saying).
The heel is too big for any regularly sized neck pocket. It could be sanded down...
The nut, advertised as 1 11/16, is a hair over 1 5/8", or 1 5/8" precisely, depending on how well I squint. It's also 24 frets (which I wanted).
The nut width was the real deal breaker. Back it goes unless anyone wants a nice 1 5/8 nut neck that needs a hair shaved off the heel.
