Does it matter were your tuner is in the chain?

Thanks in advance

kind of. You want your tuner first so it gets the dry signal. A little trick I've heard as well employs adding a second tuner at the end of your chain (in gigging situations) in case you lose signal somewhere. it lets you know if you lost your signal somewhere in the board, or if it is your amp cutting out.

Always first as burn said.

What if you have a fuzz that likes to be first? Do people A/B in that situation?

Fuzz before buffers. Everything else is preference.

First if true bypass after fuzz if buffered and the buffer is a good one in the " tuner out" of an a/b switch if the buffer is bad

Thanks guys. I'm going to put my first pedalboard together soon and i need all the advice i can get. I'm kinda getting sick of duct taping my pedals to the floor at a gig. I was only using an OD and a chorus but i recently have been acquiring some cool pedals, fuzz,
clean boost, delay and a reverb pedal because i'm tired of draging around my vintage fender reverb unit.

As a long time gigging musician, I don't buy into the idea that the tuner must be first, unless you tune up while other pedals are engaged. If your other pedals are off when you tune, it doesn't matter where the tuner is. Many, like me, put it where it fits best on your pedal board, as it is the least used pedal on it.

Never had anyone tell me I was playing out of tune.

I've got mine last. It shuts off any noise going to the amp when I switch to acoustic or take a break.

I have mine last too and use it as a kill switch.

Thats great that i can use it last because thats where it would fit the best.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

It doesn't matter. I run mine in the middle of the top row of my pedals, it's a boss TU-2 so I can daisy chain power to other pedals.

Just be sure the chorus and delay are off when you tune to make sure you get a good trackable signal. I think that's why first is best. Mine is third in the chain for practicality.

I taped my BOSS TU-2 to my headstock. So it's technically ahead of my other pedals, but because I don't have to use wires, it's not really "in" my pedal chain.

I can't get it to work right though. It's not picking up the string vibrations. And it causes a wicked neck dive.

I clamped a Snark tuner to my phaser pedal.. but I can't seem to get a trackable signal.

I'm considering tying a 2 1/2 pound weight to the bottom strap knob to counteract the neck dive, but I'm worried about it swinging around wildly during shows.

It is a kill switch where ever it is in the chain....

If the amp has two inputs for a channel, I like to plug a short cord into the second input and plug it into my tuner. Then you can just turn down the amp channel vol and tune. The amp doesnt even have to be on.

I have mine at the end of my chain, I found it was tone sucking after my fuzz. Like others have mentioned turn off all pedals before tunning.

It doesn't kill the noise from my other pedals if it's in the chain before them.
