Ever since the bass player in our band unceremoniously met a girl and picked up and moved away we've been scouring the area looking for a replacement. Unfortunately in our neck of the woods good bassists are few and far between and tend to get snatched up into projects quicker than fleas find dogs, so for almost a year now I've been using an RC-2 and Boss Super Octave to give us some kind of low end. We've had a lot of fun, but nothing approaching anything professional or even gigable. So with this year's bonus I decided to upgrade and see what we can do.

I was able to spend a few hours last night just playing around and boy howdy, what an upgrade this was. The Pog is an incrediby fun pedal and tracks better than any octaver I've ever played. I won't gush too much since this ground has already been covered many times over in other posts, let's just say I'm exceedingly happy.

The RC-30 at first play is also a lot of fun and gives a whole new dimension to what I was able to do with the simpler RC-2. Much easier to work with and a LOT more versitile. And with the ability to store and edit loops, two tracks to send the bass lines to a dedicated amp, I think we might have hit on a pretty good setup for a two man band. Now, it will never take the place of a real live bass player for sure, but methinks we're going to have a lot more fun!
