Hey there!

I've just finished building a guitar, and I just wanted to share it with you guys. The guitar is a neck through out of flamed maple with wengé fingerboard with compound radius. I've made the pickups myself too, which made it quite exciting to hear the end result.

Now some pictures from the build:

A fine looking, great sounding guitar. Good job man, damn good job. I wish I had the skills to build something like that. What amp are you playing through?

Thank you guys! :D
dog fart: Actually it's just a jack directly to my MBox 2 with some amp-simulator plugin. I personally think the guitar sounds better through an amp - it's more full and warm sounding, but this was the only option I had. I'm looking forward to playing it with the band though, where I have an Orange Rocker 30 with JCM 800 lead waiting. Think it's gonna be sweet! :D
crazydave: what did you do to make it work?

Nice! It's very uniquely styled, sounds fantastic as well. What do the mini toggles do? Are they a coil split per pickup? I wasn't able to quite place how they interacted from the video at points.

Blue: Yeah the movie is just recorded with my macbook, so the quality isn't exactly perfect! You're quite right about the mini toggles - the coils split one way or the other, but in the middle it's humbucker.

What a coincidence, I own an Orange Rocker 30. I run it into an Orange 2X12 cab, but I also have a 1960A from an old JCM 800 and a 1X12 Blackheart cab I can use for versatility.

Wow nice guitar and sounds FANTASTIC...
any info about how you make the pickups ?

maxb

nickhofen: I wire it using an old sewing machine to spin the bobbins with a reed switch connected to the wheel. The reed switch is then connected over the '=' sign on a calculator. This way, if I start pressing 1+1 on the calculator, it will keep iterating with 1 every time I make one wind!
Here's a couple of photos:

Here you can see the reed switch (the black box) and the reed magnet on the wheel.

Mac software (for whatever unknown reason) does that by default. I think it's under "photo properties" you click to check "invert", and it will stop that crap
