Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has done this? Like it? What are the parts and values included? I am rewiring the tele today and want to hit rat shack to test some things out. Would love to support torres, but can't justify shipping on a 99 cent order.

... just do the 50's wiring mod (known locally around here as the Fezz Parka mod -- just search for it).

Here's the very same thing your looking for from Acme who admits that all of the parts can easily be obtained locally.

This kit consists of a capacitor and a resistor, which are wired in parallel across two of the lugs on the volume pot in order to prevent treble loss as the volume control is rolled down. The values are 680pF/220K (single coils) and 1000pF/220K (humbuckers). There is nothing special about these components, you can buy them from Radio Shack for 50 cents or less (we're guessing). We charge $2.60 because of the time it takes to order them, receive them into inventory, twist the leads together and cut to length, print labels, print/cut/fold instruction diagrams, and package the resulting kits/diagrams into little zip lock bags and label them. So you're not paying for the parts here, you're paying for the time it takes us to package them and the convenience of not having to track down the parts yourself.
We're telling you this so you don't think we're trying to rip you off. With the cost of gas being what it is (not to mention the value of your time), it's surely cheaper to purchase one of these from us and save your time and gas. On the other hand, if you want a dozen of them, it might be worth your while to stop by Radio Shack or similar and buy the components there, you'll definitely save a few bucks.

my fav Tele has this bleed cap only in it, no resistor..I found out after playing it for a while....
I've got 3 Teles from the same year.... all things being near equal... one stood out from the rest sonically and I hardly get the other two out anymore..one has a bleed cap the other two haven't.....
whether it's a "special" Tele... or whether this bleed cap gives it a useful edge somehow?... I don't really care.... I won't change it that's for sure....
I use a similar bleed set..with the resistor added on a 2x90 Tele as well...680pF/220K I think ... it stays too...
. both bleed guitars have the volume working right down to the bottom of the dial..... and not all in the top 1/4 like some V dials... handy when you have the amp dialled up..more fine control, I guess...
I've tried the fezz mod a few times on different teles and removed it... didn't work for me... not a hard mod to trial..or reverse..
