I went ahead and started installing this nut on a Burswood Strat. Took some pictures and explained how I'm doing it.
1st, I removed the old plastic nut that I worked already once.

2nd, I scribed a line so that I can saw most of the material out. In this case it's 3/32" or .094" of an inch, as per the instructions. The reason for the paper behind the nut? Well I needed the nut up against the edge closest to the first fret in order to get an accurate measurement. The nut was smaller than the slot when I removed it, so the paper took up the slack nicely.

3rd, I set up a guide in order to get a nice cut. As long as I take my time and start the cut smoothly this will be sufficient.

4th, I made my saw cut cutting all the way to the depth of the original slot.

The image below was taken with a magnifying glass 'cause the camera wouldn't focus right. I was surprised it worked.

5th, I made an angle cut to remove most of the material so there wouldn't be much filing.

6th, I used the saw to break out the piece.

6th, Used a makeshift fence to guide the file in order to rough out what didn't come out.

Note, I put tape on the fretboard to protect it and it also helped keep my parallel bar from slipping off the fretboard. Guess I could've used a piece of non-skid material over the tape, might have kept the bar even more secure.

This is close to the finished slot.

Last thing I had to do was to make shims to raise the nut to a good height for playing. I made a good educated guess and used that 1000 grit paper to shim it up solid. Worked like a charm.....my first guess was good.

This is the finished product. Now to see if it sounds good and stays in tune.
