Wow, so many responses! Thanks a lot, I hadn't checked the forum for some time, overwhelmed by all the positive reactions!

By the time you read this, the guitar is finished! One more Telecaster in the family! My first though.

A.B. Negative, sweet Les Paul! I wasn't really after this finish, but I got it for only 65 euros and it was swamp ash, so that was the decisive factor! I have been contemplating "relicing" it, but I guess the mileage this baby will have it will be reliced quite soon.

Ironbird: Thanks! It IS a small world ain't it? I have been reading so much telecaster info and watched so many video's, I run into deja-vues myself sometimes!

BTW: Dave Reaume, the canadian comedian luthier answered my question about my Danelectro. Wasn't too impressed with the answer, but honoured nonetheless! Thanks Dave, if you don't know him check out his channel! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SgBsV_JYzE

Moondogz: Cool! I bought mine for $69 on eBay, pretty good deal! Although with shipping and import taxes it came out a bit higher, but still pretty cheap compared to the local (dutch) prices! I haven't had the chance to try out several pups, but I thought these would come close to the '52 ideal.

joaopazguitar: Thanks for your encouraging words! I will be adding a final chapter later with some photo's of the guitar. It didn't come out perfect, but it plays and sounds real well. I will elaborate on the "mishaps" in the final blog post, so stay tuned for that: I will post it here so everyone will be able to check it out.

And also thanks for all the "welcome" notes, superb. This is really a very helpful forum! Oh yeah, I also stumbled upon a youtube video series "Get that classic Fender sound" with Jim Weider, pretty cool watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=semirvAIbHA

So stay tuned for that final blog post!!

Twang on!

Thanks A.B. Negative, he sure is!

It's a bit off topic, but since this is my "hello tele-world" thread; I wrote a new blog post on repairing my TS-9 Tubescreamer pedal; changing the LED bulb: http://thickshag.blogspot.nl/2012/08/ibanez-tubescreamer-repair-changing.html
