Burst Tele neck color question

I'm finishing a sapele & maple twin-bucker Tele. The neck is also sapele w/ a rosewood board. The first shot is the back of the body as it stands now (filled w/ red & clear coated). The top is curly hard maple that will have a faded cherry sunburst applied. BTW, this is the preeb-style homemade pumice filler, in this case colored with red pigment.

My question is about where the neck is now, and possibly where the back will be. The brighter red shots are the neck filled (again red) and clear coated, then sanded level. The darker red is after two coats of lacquer toned with TransTint Red Mahogany dye.

Question - is it too dark? I didn't originally have 'wine red' in my plan, but I'm thinking it will look good with a burst. Or, do you folks think it would work to have the neck be darker than the back of the guitar?

Lots of options. I can certainly just sand off the color and start it over. I do know I don't want it as bright red as it was just from the filler.

Thanks folks,
Michael

The neck colour looks great has a nice rich look to it without being too dark. Personally I'd go with the darker colour on the back as well, but it's your guitar at the end of the day.

To separate, or accentuate the top, you could always do a faux binding if you think the burst will not go well with side colour.

Lot's of guitars have different neck colours. As long as you make the bursts look similar, even if it's different shades (like playing a G major and a G power chord, it sounds the same... just different) it will look fine.

Thanks, folks. I put the neck out in the sun today to cure and perhaps to fade a little. The color is just a little less saturated now, and I like it better.
