Was thinking about getting an RS kit for my '93 Fender Tele '52 reissue. Anyone out there done this and if so, is it worth it?

RS vintage electronic upgrade kitLuvReissues August 2nd, 2012, 10:06 PM Was thinking about getting an RS kit for my '93 Fender Tele '52 reissue. Anyone out there done this and if so, is it worth it? Rob DiStefano August 3rd, 2012, 08:03 AM imo, you'll save money getting the same quality components you need elsewhere. IF you need new components .... if the pots in yer guitar are full size, if the pup switch is a crl or oak or tritan, if the jack is a switchcraft, yer good to go and don't need an "upgrade". the rest is in how you wire the circuit and what cap value(s) and type(s) you choose. .... KokoTele August 3rd, 2012, 08:19 AM Like all companies that offer such "upgrades," they set you up with marketing that convinces you that your gear is inferior and then apply a healthy dose of snake oil to the product before shipping. The only thing that's going to change if you get the RS kit is that the taper of the pots may be slightly different than standard pots. If there's something actually wrong with the components you have in your guitar, then replace them with quality components like Rob says (though I don't like the Tritan switches). LuvReissues August 3rd, 2012, 10:28 AM Thanks guys, maybe I'll just buy the pots and caps and install them myself. Save a lot of $! |
