bullfrogblues August 2nd, 2012, 10:27 AM Found some nice ribbon mahogany yesterday, 1 13/16" thick, 7" wide, 15' long. Cut it into 2-48" sections, and left one piece 7'.
I'm not sure what I'm going to make yet, but it might be a matched trio!

The lumber store just got a whole shipment of this, I'm sure it would be too heavy to ship, though, reasonably.

boris bubbanov August 4th, 2012, 02:32 AM Have you calculated what a full size solid tele body will weigh out of this?

Not yet. I haven't decided what to build yet. I initially was looking for wood to make a lap steel from some plans I have, but bought the whole board knowing it won't go to waste.
It isn't light wood, so I'm sure some chambering will be in order, or a thinline style.
Should be enough for a matching trio of lap steel, tele, and strat. Though a friend commented that a Les Paul Jr. style might be good, as well.
A lot of food for thought
I may cut some to length and try to predict the weight.

I can get more, though they won't sell less than an 8' stick. And at 6.90 a board foot, might be cost affective to ship. Happy to do it if you want.
Colt W. Knight August 4th, 2012, 01:46 PM Can you PM me the name of the lumber yard? I get down to Florida every oncwe in a while.
bullfrogblues August 4th, 2012, 04:20 PM PM sent.
