Hello everyone. I figured since I regularly visit and just used the forum to research a purchase, I should go ahead and sign up.

No great wisdon to impart to anyone. I have a variety of guitars but have always loved tele's for that "direct" feel I get from them. Never owned a classic Fender, the closest was a 52 reissue that I didn't care for, but have had things from Anderson, Grosh, and others. My current one, which is my favorite, is from a local builder, Seuf guitars. This is a lightly relic'd butterscotch blonde with a maple neck, semi-beefy, and Lollar pickups. Love it.

My purchase that I used the forum for was a Gibson GA-5 reissue amp with lots of mods. Should be a nice alternate to my 67 Deluxe Reverb. Here's the description:

"Here is what has been done to this one:
-Installed a Tone Tubby Hemp cone 8" ceramic speaker. (Huge!)
-Upgraded all filter capacitors to F&T
-Upgraded cathode caps to Mojotone and Mallory
-"Trinity Mods" as described in the forum (removing a resistor and cap, a 25uf bypass cap and adding a subtle negative feedback resistor.
-68K blocking resistor on volume lead to preamp tube
-Added taps for both 8 & 4 ohm speakers
-Audioquest speaker wire
-Silver Mica bright cap on the volume control
-Black grill cloth and matching premium leather handle"

At any rate, lots of you guys know much more than me, so thanks for being such a good source of information.

Welcome! I grew up about 2.5 hours North of KC in southern Iowa. I have lots of friends that are from/live in KC. Great town.

Gotta love the small-scale guitar builders. We got lots of them 'round these parts.

Probaby off topic, but since BBQ is your thing, try Oklahoma Joe's at 47th & Mission. The absolute best you've ever purchased in a gas station. OK, that's not saying much, but they are sharing space and, in a city known for their killer smoked meats, this is amazing.

How about that? First night and I already got off topic...

Guitar players visiting KC need to make it out to BB's Lawnside BBQ at 85th & Troost area. The ambiance is pure roadhouse, the food is great. We had some of the FDP jams there years ago and the management was always good to Fender folks

second on the ok joes... hope you come on one of the two days a week they have burnt ends (best ever). More importantly second on the Seuf best feeling guitar I have felt in a long time and the tele was amazing. Mass street music always seems to have a couple and damn it was better than the custom shop tele from fender i played (twice as much). Just wish I had a couple of grand to get one or even a custom made one.
