Wilkinson Wigsby?

Anybody have any experience with these?

Wigsby (http://www.ebay.com/itm/WILKINSON-WIGSBY-TREMOLO-TREM-SYSTEM-VIBRATO-WHAMMY-BAR-RETRO-CHROME-/330712230197#ht_2509wt_1042)

Looks interesting... Adjustable tension... But, you do have to route out a cavity to mount it.

Boo, Hiss on the name! It's cool that they did a trem... but why try to glom on to someone else's reputation?

Yep, big hole to route... looks to be about like a Jaguar / Jazzmaster hole... maybe bigger.

Looks like its pattern off a Burns vibrato design. Like they took the spring setup and inverted the mounting to place it below the plate instead of on top.

I was doing some googling around, looking for more information on the Wigsby installation and found these pics (http://www.flickr.com/photos/52345158@N03/6927683077/in/set-72157629448986763/) in this thread on the Epiphone Forum (http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/82845-epiphone-guitars-and-wilkinson-wigsby-vibrato-tailpiece/).

I used one on a custom build once. It was a very solid piece of hardware. You'll need to be pretty instal savvy if you want one. There are no instructions, diagrams or guides that I'm aware of for installation.

Other than the logo, I kind of like it. Reminds me of a mosrite trem. Also, the old Burns trems. The astro jets and Corvettes had them. They had to have a dugout also.

I thought it was a vibwato....

No thanks. For $150 you could put a real Bigsby on and not have to rout a ginourmous hole in your axe.

Wilkinson is one of the best priced brands out there, IMO they sell great stuff, and are cheap! Tonnes of people use their intonated Tele bridge.

Well, that's a different story, then. Go for it.

I wish it didn't say Wigsby on it... I guess someone in their design dept thought that was cute...
Well at least they don't put Welecaster on their bridges so I can use them.

 Welecaster. I think it'd look silly without the name, or with Wilkinson. But Wigsby is silly looking too..

Shoulda called it the Wiggler.

Or maybe a Wilmolo

I could probably grind the wigsby down and paint it black....

The more that I read other forums, the more I appreciate TDPRI.

What is so wrong with AGF? They are good people, if you can't appreciate it then have a good day.

I know that wasn't the worlds best install guide or anything, but at least it shows a little more than the typical discussion on the Wigsby. Maybe it will help at least one person who like me had no clue what I was getting into when I purchased the stupid thing. Would I do it again, no. However, I am left handed my selection of inexpensive vibrato units is pretty limited. I think it turned out pretty cool, I liked the look. Especially on that guitar it really broke up the massive wing. I would have rather installed a b5 style vibrato, but no one makes a cheap left handed unit.

I don't think he was trying to insult other forums, just saying how awesome TDPRI is.

Hey, Bentley... Have you seen these...

Xtrem (http://www.guitarfetish.com/Xtrem-Vintage-Vibrato-System_c_373.html)

They start at under $50 and, unlike a Wigsby, you don't have to hog out a big hole in your guitar to install...

I have one put away for my eventual SG project...

It was the page layout with the black background, I found it a lot harder on my eyes than TDPRI.

If I was a member, I'd tinker with my page settings and try to make it less cluttered, but I already spend too much time on forums to get into another.

sorry, I got your pm and just saw this post too.

the color scheme is pretty bad. I agree on that point. I changed mine a long time ago to something very similar to TDPRI interestingly enough.

I love this place for info, but I have spent so much time over there it is hard to spend any more time elsewhere. Mostly I just feel like a hack when I see what the people here are capable of.
