Okay, so my homemade belt sander failed. Unsurprisingly. I'm not too upset . Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had experience with these.. http://www.homedepot.ca/product/ryobi-belt-disc-sander/940139# and http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444329 9919&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474396672970&bmUID=1343761191669
If you compare the two they're the exact same thing! Down to the mitre gauge! I've read some reveiws, and assuming they're the same thing, with different names stuck on them, I think i'll go with the mastercraft. 80 bucks? I think it's a good investment

Most woodworking tools are made by the same factories overseas. Even more expensive name brands are typically the same machine, sometimes the more expensive machines will have nicer components like guards and adjustment mechanisms.
I have a 4" and a 6" combo belt/disc sanders. Since I bought the Rigid ROSS, I don't use either anymore.

I have the one from Canadian Tire and it is great! I also have some drum sanders to use on my drill press.

I bought it! It was about 90 bucks, 75 bucks cheaper then regular price! It's really versatile. I have pictures, like always.
My trusty helper!
Who needs one?
Fence on the horizontal belt
Stood up vertical
You can adjust the table, like most.
The belt can be set at any angle. Amazing feature, I think.
Outside and ready to sand!

My voice sounds odd in the video, and the quality is bad, but I don't know how to upload the videos from the HD camcorder.

The little disc sander is probably more useful than the big belt on those combo sanders, IMHO.
I like to keep a coarse 80 grit belt and a finer 180 grit on the disk. That way, you can fine tune things on the disc. They are outstanding for nut making. You can true up and shape a nut blank in no time on that disc.

That's a good idea, I might have to get a different sanding disc
