Newly aquired guitar day, Yamaha Tele style

I've been wanting another humbucker guitar and I just got this in today.
Yamaha 120SD model.
From what I can find out it was made in the early to mid 90s ,basically a lower end Pacifica I guess.
The description said MIJ but a label on the bottom back says Taiwan, not a deal breaker, it's still a nice guitar.

It's lightweight, has a nice comfortable medium C shape neck, rosewood fretboard w 22 medium jumbo frets.

The pickups sound pretty good, though the neck pu seems hotter than the bridge, hopefully a pickup height adjustment will fix that.

It needs a good cleaning , some new strings and some set up but it should be a fun cheap axe , one that I won't worry about getting dinged up.
I think I'll put on a set of heavy knurled Tele style knobs that I have laying around and I have an extra GK midi pu to mount on it so I can use a Tele style guitar with my Roland GR55!

I'll try to post some better pics soon, these were quickly taken.

Great score Ringo! I nabbed one of those about a year ago in a pawn shop. I had big plans of upgrading the pups, etc, but woulnd up selling it and doubling my money.

It was a real nice guitar though...not even with a 'for the money' added...just a great playing, good sounding guitar. A friend of mine who makes his living with a little in home studio has the single coil (more like a 'real' tele) model. He told me many a guitar player recording there has left their guitar in the case after playing his...and it's bone stock. I've played that one a few times and heard it on several recordings and it is a nice one. He got it for $100 when GC was closing em out.

Anyway...congrats Ringo. Have fun with that bad boy!

very cool looking..i love the minimalist appearance: strictly business..
yamaha makes some pretty sweet acoustics too;
and a lot of "bang for the buck"

That's an excellent choice!

I've got a couple of Tele-style guitars, Pacifica PAC 102S & 120S:

I like the ergonomics of both guitars, everything seems to be easy to reach without getting in the way.

I had one in black for a while, nice guitar.. MIM quality at a no name price.
IIRC a LA area jazzer played one as his main axe for a number of years.

I'm digging the guitar, I adjusted the pickup height which balanced the volume better, sprayed some cleaner lube into the pots, (mini pots ) and no more scratchiness.
For now I'm just going to clean it up , adjust the action and play it.
Down the road I might change the pots , tone cap and switch out if I change the pickups.

I really like the feel of the neck, I don't like thin wide flat radius necks, this one has a fairly fat C shaped neck that just feels good!
