LOL! Yep, I'm the guy who answered NO in the "Does your pedalboard cost more than your amp?"

Most my dirt comes from the the amp on my dirty channel.

But I have an old ProCo Rat being repaired that I am still waiting on. Having the Op Amp and footswitch replaced. I also have a VS Route 66 on my board that is my compressor but the overdrive section isn't too bad. Just another Tube Screamer copy I think.

The Box of Rock is cool and I like the Wampler Hot Wired but I aint going to spend that much money on Fuzz box.

I have a new DS-1. I thought it sucked. Maybe it just didn't like my power supply. It made my guitar sound like a friggin kazoo.

Different LoL , never heard it likened to a kazoo before LoL , mines an oldie , bought it when they came out the first time , old components (discretes) had a sound of their own , modern updates made the components theoretically better , but for us musos it was a plague of horrors as they took the roughness out of them , I used to have two WEM copycats for delay duties , through a Linear 100 watt valve amp and a basic 4 x 12 and dirt was a cheese wedge fuzz box , and that was it , oh forgot the obligatory tremelo pedal , sound was awesome , technology wrecked that and we all went super tranny (amps that is) two decades of crapposounds , brittle tinny rubbish

Over the course of 44 years I've tried more overdrives and fuzzes than I can remember. I certainly haven't tried them all--who can? and I'm sure there are others I'd love, but these are the ones that work for me that I've stuck with. Would like to have some type of Big Muff though at some point--I had an original back in the early '70s and it was great until it broke. I also traded away a Fulldrive II MOSFET that I liked the sound of (I did not find it to be too bright as others have), but I found the Boost switch to be useless in live performance while the Jetter GS3 two-overdrives-in-one-box configuration is much better and more usable in my opinion.

My all time fav is an original black box Marshall Bluesbreaker. I've posted about it several times over the past 5-6 years. Many boteeks have come and gone, but this one remains.

Not a very versitile pedal.....not much gain on tap and nothing really happens till the knobs are past noon, but the bluesy overdrive tone it provides is quite seductive. It responds extremely well to picking dynamics and cleans up like a good tube amp with the guitars volume control. I love this old pedal!

Joyo Ultimate Overdrive

Recently got these pedals, only took minutes for either of these two to weed out most of the dirt pedals on my board. I have the joyo Vintage OD also at the same time, sounds nice too, tame compared to the ultimate. Most that others have posted I've never had the chance to try. I got these pedals for under $30 each, after feedback on them here on this forum. being relatively new to effects I appreciate the opinions and discriptions.

Can't say enough about the Fuzz Star, exactly what i was looking for.

Hardwire TL-2. Was recommended by a couple of posters as being a way to get a Boogie sound in a pedal. Not exactly. Kind of a Boogie/Marshall hybrid. At any rate, exactly the tone I was looking for.

What I was not expecting from a solid-state pedal was the touch sensitivity. Keep the pedal gain about 10 o'clock, play with your guitar's volume knob and it does a pretty convincing old-school screaming tweed impersonation.

Crank the gain past 3 o'clock and you're pretty firmly in death metal territory, which isn't a place I live.

I run gain at 12 o'clock, little bass bump, little treble bump, midrange stays pretty much flat. Switch on "tight". That's the sound I've been looking years for, right there.

At any rate, it's one of the most versatile pieces of gear I've ever owned.

If I still want a good bit of the guitar's tone, I go for a Boss SD-1 the most. This works well for both high and low volume. When going for a particular fuzz sound, I prefer the OOP DOD FX-52, Classic Fuzz which has a bit more personality and is not too expensive.

I own all kinds of expensive pedals and out of all of them the one u use the most either with other pedals or by itself is a nobles odr1. Using this on a stock drri. No need for bright cap clip and it stacks very well with other pedals. Most of the time I run an 808 into it and I can get all the dirt I want with no fizz. I love this pedal.
