I've had this one for a few months now. One shop installed a grounded cord, another home-based tech replaced the leaking filter caps.
The basic problem is the same as when I got it: No chimey, clean tone at low volume. Sounds muddy, no highs. Put an OD pedal in front and it has great tone.
The first time I posted about it was in this thread, which has the schematic:

I'm $500 into the amp and need to decide how to go from here. Here is what another guy said who has restored one of these:
Rick, you really need to replace all the caps on these, coupling and especially the filter caps. I think I left the circuit stock. The one I had also had a new speaker. You could also put a 6AV6 in instead of the 6AT6. That will give you a pretty good gain boost.
and: Rick, here's what I would suggest. Look up the schematic for the Fender Harvard 5F10. Copy the circuit for the 6AT6 and the 12AX7. This is the same as a single channel 5E3. Change the 6V6 circuit to the 5E3, except for the stuff that's on the Weber schematic around the OT. Leave that stuff as is. This amp has a weird cathode resistor setup for the 6V6s that I've never seen on any other amps. That should give you the 5E3 tone you're looking for. If there's nothing wrong with the original speaker, I would leave it. New speakers don't sound anywhere near as good as vintage ones.
