A master class in funk...elicross July 29th, 2012, 05:23 PM ...in a little more than three minutes. Another master class, especially in bass! For good or bad, I always try to be Mice Elf. elicross July 29th, 2012, 06:02 PM Another lesson. Listen to how Stevie plays the clavinet like a guitar. Funkiest-ever guitar performance not involving a guitar. I think it's what makes the song. rhw_zbvxvb4 I should listen to more funk. It makes me feel good in the same way blues music does. kplamann July 29th, 2012, 06:08 PM I always thought this quite funky. And to think they are from Scotland ... bSq93Hsn0Bg fuzzbender July 29th, 2012, 06:15 PM okay, if we're bringing little stevie wonder into it rc0XEw4m-3w one of the first uses of synth technology, via Europe, if i'm not mistaken elicross July 29th, 2012, 06:32 PM I always thought this quit funky. And to think they are from Scotland ... This simply proves that, not only can you not fake the funk, you can't escape it. If it wants you, it will find you. No matter where you live, the funk will find you. elicross July 29th, 2012, 06:37 PM okay, if we're bringing little stevie wonder into it rc0XEw4m-3w one of the first uses of synth technology, via Europe, if i'm not mistaken I almost posted this instead of Superstition. The swirling electric piano at the start is amazing. The clavinet riff in Superstition just edges it out. But man, I do love the post-chorus synth-and-voice breaks in Living for the City. ne4tt July 29th, 2012, 06:51 PM "Who Likes Funk?" thread (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/music-your-ears/296702-who-likes-funk.html)for the Funkateers, is in "Music to Your Ears" jaime mal paso July 29th, 2012, 08:01 PM MKaWPtRIavc Sidney Vicious July 29th, 2012, 08:16 PM METeRS jUST kISSED mY BABY': xSoyaOVYk0E Mad Kiwi July 30th, 2012, 01:48 AM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRr2kf84V2M&feature=related Not sure if this link works.... Love the Funk!! Been playing these songs all day at work, thanks for the selection.... Just thought I would add one I hadn't seen posted....a bit more rocky / disco orientated but still a great funk song! Mad Kiwi July 30th, 2012, 01:51 AM Another one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5EmnQp3V48 Shake it down, shake it down, down... Mighty mighty! Love it! Reminds me of the recent TV tribute to Lionel Ritchie, a tie-in with his country duets album. I watched a good bit of it at my parents' house after dinner, then drove home thinking "I've got to get me an album of Lionel's greatest hits." Well, after looking at what was available, it became clear what I really wanted was a Commodores' greatest hits album. That's when all the "Lionel Ritchie" hits I liked were recorded: when he was with them. So that's what I got. That video's cool. I knew Lionel didn't sing "Brick House," but I had no idea he played sax. (That's assuming he's really playing, I guess....) ScatMan July 30th, 2012, 03:31 AM Another funk king: George Clinton.. A master arranger: vocals and instruments..sure, his lyrics are silly, but so are Zappa's. Listen to the harmonies and the rhythms and sounds..very inventive. szkmivRWegU elicross July 30th, 2012, 03:39 AM I want the bomb. I want the P-funk. Sidney Vicious July 30th, 2012, 01:51 PM I love that "jam on the one" Bootsy video above. That is it. + "ONE"! That is the "one" that the new James Brown biography references in its title - sort of a double meaning of course also meaning James Brown is "the one" but the book makes clear that Brown preached the importance of "the one" as described by Bootsy. warthog July 30th, 2012, 04:39 PM Standing on the verge of getting it on!
