Comp Happiness

For all who have asked...move your compression pedal from on end of the chain to the other if you're not happy. My Visual Sound added a lot of noise at the beginning of the chain. I was not a happy guy. Finally moved it to the end, just in front of my delay. Guess what?? Not only is the noise virtually gone, but my OD pedals actually work better.

Interesting... I would've thought, with a compressor essentially being an additional gain stage, that any OD before a compressor could - not always, but could - really ramp up the white noise factor.

Cool! I'll have to give this a shot tonight... might make some older pedals usable again.

I would think a compressor before would add noise INTO the OD which would increase it coming out, plus it would hurt picking dynamics.

I happen to like it both ways. Just depends on the of pedal. You can't use an or pedal with a volume boost in front of the comp, it will just make the comp kick in more. I actually like my sparkle drive before the compressor for just a little dirt. This is kind of my clean sound. It just smooths everything out. Then I run a barber super sport after the comp to get more gain and I little more volume.

That's exactly what was happening until I put it at the end of the chain.
For me it was like night and day...much better now! All compression pedals add some noise, some more than others. Mine was just a suggestion for those who have had issues

Tried it...I like it...very different effect. Before my comp adds some spank to my OD...after, it evens everything out. I'm liking the idea of one before and one after.
