I've always loved Bono's Irish Falcon for the Cadillac Green finish...yes, I know this electromatic is not a Gretsch Falcon...but damn, is this guitar sexy...
This may be one of those, "hey honey...I'm asking forgiveness" purchases once the box arrives.

other than the pickup surrounds...I really like the changes they've made to this series.
I have a 5125---the ones not in production anymore that had the DeArmond 2000 pickups on them. GREAT guitar, and one that's a keeper.
I also have a 6118 Annie, which I love love love.
Hard to be a nice Gretsch.

It's a great color.
I would say this.
I got my used 6118 for just under $1000. Now, I found a bargain. But at $800 new, that 5420 is getting near the price of a used 6118.
The look is slightly different of course (I love the two-tone smoke/caddy green on the 6118), and there is no doubt at all that the electro line of Gretsch is awesome (I have four! Though one is up for sale). But the pro line is a little bit nicer in very small ways. I would never pay the price for a new 6120 or whatever, or even a new 6118. But used....you can find deals.
So, just look around if that interests you. You might be able to spend $200 more and get a 6118 with a hard case, like I did.
Or if this one really speaks to you, go for it! I know that my 5125 will never get replaced. Nor will my natural-finish Corvette. I also have a really great super-light silver pro jet that I put DeArmonds into. Love that sucker as well.
