Which pickguard for Squier VM JM Sonic Blue?

Over at Offsetguitars.com, there's a freature called the "Dressing Room" which lets you try different colour schemes on either a Jaguar or Jazzmaster.

A couple of days ago I had a play around with the Dressing Room to try and help me decide which pickguard to buy for my new Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster in Sonic Blue. However, the shade of Sonic Blue on there is quite different to that of the VM JM.

I therefore had a go at recreating the VM Jazzmaster's shade of Sonic Blue in Photoshop. I then screengrabbed some colour scheme ideas from the Dressing Room, dumped them into Photoshop and changed the blue for my own. Here are a few mockups for anyone considering swapping out the pickguard. On my monitor, this looks pretty close to the colour of my VM JM.

The top one is the standard white pickguard it comes with.

Anyone have any preferences?

first off, i'm completely jealous because i want one of those sonic blue JM's really bad!

i personally like the white (or parchment) pickguard with that shade of blue, although i'd prefer a single-ply (i'm not a big fan of the black layer on white p/g's for some reason.) i have to say that the gold anodised looks REALLY good with the blue too!

I love the last one where the color of the pickups blends in the better.
I usually don't like these white pu covers on dark pg's.

...and I'm completely jealous of your VM jazzmaster as well :mrgreen:

I refinished a Precision Special in that same pale sonic blue (modeled after the Fender CP 60's Strat color), and I found that a nice mint pickguard works well. Though I would also say that a real anodized gold looks nice.

I wanna get some aged/mint pickup covers for this thing, but just haven't yet.
