How to tell if a Humbucker is demagnetized?

The other guitarist in my band gave me a fake Les Paul, said if to do whatever, it was taking up space. Well, Naturally, I took out the pots and pickups and did away with it. He said that he might have demagnetized the pickups, though, but he's not sure.

Are they still supposed to have a magnetic pull even if they were degaussed?

Or how can I magnetize them again? I wanna make lemonade, here.

if there in no magnetic "pull" to the pup, it needs a refill. a "C" clamp a two neodymium rare earth magnets (radio shack, et al), a few passes with the magnet (loosen the humbucker bobbins and slide out the magnet) and yer good to go.

Rob,
Is that a "maintenance" type thingy? Do every so often?

Well to my surprise, there was actually a pull from the pickup! So I wired it to a jack for shiggles, and lo and behold, SOUND! Whenever I get an iron, I know where that sucker's going!

only done once, for life - unless the mag's have been drained, OR you wish to reverse the polarity.
