I'll never see the attraction in wanting to play like him. Space Pickle July 25th, 2012, 11:32 AM nyone else find Robbie ford's music hovering someone where between elevator music and a bad porno soundtrack? Sorry, no. edit - loving the fashion sense in the video! Hilarious. dman July 25th, 2012, 11:42 AM Anyone else find Robbie ford's music hovering someone where between elevator music and a bad porno soundtrack? Gotta say...no, not really. Wish I had a fourth of his talent. Telesavalis July 25th, 2012, 11:43 AM around 34 in he kinda reminds me of George McFLy. dman July 25th, 2012, 11:47 AM edit - loving the fashion sense in the video! Hilarious. Yeah, it was that Miami Vice Colombian druglord look. Hopefully it will never become "retro" and get ressurected...some things are best left in the past. superlightweigh July 25th, 2012, 12:13 PM Wow I didn't know you could upload a 90 minute video here. I'm gonna watch this later when I'm not at work illegally surfing the internet during lunch. For the record, I love his tone which I find second to none, also his phrasing. One of my favorite guitarists to listen to. ADinNYC July 25th, 2012, 12:20 PM Anyone else find Robbie ford's music hovering someone where between elevator music and a bad porno soundtrack? I'll never see the attraction in wanting to play like him. Wow....I've never heard anyone speak of Ford this way. I think he's one of the most talented players out there. I'm guessing you don't like Larry Carlton either. Space Pickle July 25th, 2012, 12:56 PM This is the tune that got me into Robben Ford: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRil3JBW35c klasaine July 25th, 2012, 01:24 PM This guy thought he was pretty good. RF solo starts at 2:58 *(XLNT and super sparse comping ... just to relate it to my rhythm thread) Watch the whole thing. It takes a Miles stylie super left turn at 5:53 P67DMvNqINY 1979 with the Yellow Jackets ... There is many concert videos of him, you 'd better take a look at them. Joefish July 25th, 2012, 05:47 PM when I think about him, I can’t help first think how cool and what a killer guitar player he is that George Harrison asked him to join the Dark Horse tour when he was 22 years old. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2ORq1p7GhCY/T6MgRRs3ZLI/AAAAAAAAD5k/5odAZs01jjY/s1600/3.jpg (thank you Mr. Miller) soazia9Jpa8 and he’s has to be Epic if he’s in a band with Mike MSbKbax3CPU tedro July 25th, 2012, 06:08 PM and he’s has to be Epic if he’s in a band with Mike MSbKbax3CPU got a link to that one, youtube or something? gitold July 25th, 2012, 06:22 PM What a unique style and player. I"ve loved him since I heard him with the Ford Bros in 71. He was playing with Jimmie Witherspoon at 19 but then what would he know..right? Don't know if it's still available but "The Inside Story" is my favorite record of his. Seasicksailor July 25th, 2012, 06:55 PM No matter what you think of his playing, I'm sure he would make a FANTASTIC teacher! Frankie July 29th, 2012, 11:13 AM This is the tune that got me into Robben Ford: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRil3JBW35c I think that tune got a lot of people into Ford. That is an awesome live version, I appreciate you sharing that. He's one of those pickers that when you see him live or listen to his albums, it makes you want to pick up the guitar and push your limits, try something new. His solo stuff is just top notch, then add in projects like the Jellowjackets, Miles Davis, saw some on line stuff with Michael McDonald singing. None of it over played, all of it very tasty. iguazux July 29th, 2012, 01:54 PM I think that tune got a lot of people into Ford. That is an awesome live version, I appreciate you sharing that. Don't miss "Minor elegance" with Joe Diorio. For me, the guitar of RF in this album is a true reference. tweeddeluxe July 29th, 2012, 04:28 PM Anyone else find Robbie ford's music hovering someone where between elevator music and a bad porno soundtrack?
