This is the wiring schematic I'm using in my 72' Thinline Tele RI. It has three SC sized humbuckers (my mod). It gives me plenty of useful sound options without being too hard to remember on the gig.

Coll wiring for Tele with 3 pickupsfeloniuspunk July 23rd, 2012, 04:34 PM This is the wiring schematic I'm using in my 72' Thinline Tele RI. It has three SC sized humbuckers (my mod). That thread title was supposed to be: 'Cool" wiring Blessed are those who awaken others, as they have been awakened. Donelson July 24th, 2012, 05:52 AM How did you fit that 4-pole superswitch into your tele? That product won't fit into my H1. I thought about removing some wood; but didn't. That switch is now in my strat. I like the blending thing. garrett July 24th, 2012, 10:15 AM Cool way to get outside pups in series, and still be able to get all the other Strat and Tele sounds. I'm not fond of blenders, so I'd have just done the 7 tone mod with the switch on the tone. What does the switch on the volume pot do? How did you fit that 4-pole superswitch into your tele? That product won't fit into my H1. I thought about removing some wood; but didn't. That switch is now in my strat. I like the blending thing. Thinlines have a bigger opening, plus they're hollow underneath. Acme make a narrow super switch that fits in a standard rout, though. The Schaller Megaswitch fits as well. feloniuspunk July 24th, 2012, 10:43 AM I used my Dremel tool to remove wood where ever necessary so everything fits nicely, including a pocket for the additional middle pickup. It's all under the pickguard anyway so it can't be seen. I've tried many different tone switches and tone mods and find that a basic simple tone control and/or a blender pot are the most useful controls on the guitar on gigs. One of my goals was to keep things simple. I've had mods where there were 18 different combinations for pickups, tone, phase, series/parallel wiring. It was like flying the space shuttle. I'd forget in the middle of a tune which setting was for this or that. I wanted to make playing the guitar simpler, not more complex. Keep in mid that when the second pot, the tone pot, is pulled out so it's in blender mode, there is no tone control at all. You get just the raw unfiltered pickup signals. The switch on the volume pot is for changing the phase of the bridge pickup, as noted on the drawing. In for in phase, out for out of phase; totally intuitive. |
