Abnormal/twisted tele neck bow?

Hi, I just received a tele'52 dated 1977 with a problem I don't have clue how to solve. With truss rod fully losen the bow is not enough. Moreover, under 6th string spacing is almost ok according to Fender standard for 7.25" radius necks (shows 0.25mm over 8th fret), but under 1th string there is absolutely no space, the string bearly touches all frets, the neck is straight as a laser beam. I use 10's. if I replace 1st to 3th string with 11's set for certain period of time , will it help somehow?

Have you checked if the frets are level? Are all frets seated well? Are you sure its is the wood that has a backbow?

Or did you mean the neck is twisted lengthwise? I am not sure I understand the problem; you are trying to set the relief but the neck does not budge? But it also shows signs of being twisted / warped ?

i think he is saying the truss rod is loose yet the neck is still too straight

I have the same problem with a 68 tele - when I go to .11 strings it's ok but I recently changed to .10 so had to raise the bridges a bit more than I would like.

Perhaps a shim in the neck pocket towards the headstock would help yours - it would change the angle of the neck.

Yes, the rod is loose, but the neck is still dead straight at the side of 1st string, and not enough bowed from 6th string side.

I said "twisted" because it does not have equal neck relief on 1st and 6th string.

I've never heard of a 52 Tele from 1977, maybe some pics would help.

Ok got it. Have you measured by capo on first fret and pressning down at 12th? Is the action set at an ok level at fret 17 for all strings yet the 1st is touching the frets but the 6th is almost ok?

I would try to look for high frets and use a ruler with dents for the frets to see if the wood is straight. There are ways to fix a warped neck if it is not too bad, but they often will warp again IME.
Heavier strings on top might help. Strings are not that expensive so worth a shot.

I think we need pics to help you out on this.
