If one were to have 48 hours to knock around Nashville, where might be the best little joint (or two) to listen to some great cats playing real country music?
I don't mean to knock the ultra-slick, heavily produced, commercial fare coming out of the city, but one could hear that any day of the week on the radio.
Thanks

Good question, I will also be there Sept 12 - Sept 16. Any other touristy food -dining-entertainment tips would be helpful.
Thanks,

Check the "Nashville Scene" (http://www.nashvillescene.com) for bands, nightlife, etc.

Not a local but I do a fair amount of business there.
For food, I enjoy the breakfast at loveless cafe http://www.lovelesscafe.com/
For music
I have caught a few great bands at Roberts Western Wear, most notably Don Kelley with JD Simo on guitar. Check their schedule
For awhile Kenny Vaughn was playing the 12 South Tap Room on Mondays, I have yet to see him, but it is on my list.
Have fun

There's also a weekly radio show from the auditorium behind the Loveless, (I think). Jim Lauderdale hosts.
Not exactly country, but check out the Family Wash (http://familywash.com/) in East Nashville. Not a great neighborhood but a great mix of music. Plus, pretty good food. Tuesday is Pint and Pie night.
Check the websites to see who's at 3rd and Lindsley (http://www.3rdandlindsley.com/) and The Basement (http://www.thebasementnashville.com/).
Wherever you go you will not hear a bad band in Nashville.

I agree. Robert's Western World is only place on lower-broadway still playing really traditional country. The Don Kelly band plays there Wed-Sat, 6-10pm.
