Humbucker orientation

I have seen guitars with a neck humbucker installed two different ways. Some have the screws along the edge toward the neck and some have that edge toward the bridge. Is there a "correct" way to orient a neck humbucker?
And how about a bridge humbucker?

In general the adjustable poles are intended to be along the bridge (or Neck). I suppose there are some that are reversed or through experimentation the player likes it better that way.

I've oriented them opposite of normal installation if I wanted to split the hum to keep the opposite-to-normal coil active. You can do the same thing with wiring, but I'm lazy.

Bridge 'bucker screws face bridge.
Neck 'bucker screws face neck.
