Squier Strat Re-Paint Project

The other day while I was sitting on the couch extremely bored I got an idea to repaint a guitar, figured I've never tried it so what the hell lol. I then took apart a Squier Strat I had laying around, bought a few years ago and never did anything with it so I hand sanded it down, which took forever ...and then sanded some more to get it smooth once I did that I added 3 coats of primer and 4 coats of paint and 3 coats of laquer to the headstock, doesn't look to bad for rattle cans if you ask me lol. Plan on putting a pin up girl decal on the body once its done then laquering over it so it won't come off...but here's a couple pictures of the finished head stock and the body with 1 coat of paint....the body color looks a little off since it was dark in my basement and my phone flash isn't the best ...I will take better pictures for sure as the project goes on...comments and critisism welcome...thanks Clinton

I taped the whole neck front and back with frog tape, then around the edges of the head stock..made sure there was no bubbles and went to town :-) lol

I think the rosewood looks best on here. imo

Are you gonna polish the body?

Why did you bother to sand it down to the wood?

Nice work on the headstock. Those look like clean lines. Well done, man.

Thought it would look better than primering over the already painted body, but really jus made it more of a pain in the a$$ lol

I want to polish but don't know what I should use...any tips?

I know you have clear coated, but I would give it a light sanding with 600 wet/dry and do a few more coats of clear. Then buff it out by first sanding with 600/800 and 2000 in that order. Then move on to buffing out with a polishing compound and then a final coat of carnuba wax. Lately I have been using Satin lacquer as my clear coats. If you get a decent final wet coat it looks so good that very little final buffing is needed. It gives a very subtle sheen that looks like a finish that has aged for years. Here is a thinline I just did in shell pink with the satin clear. The headstock shows the level of sheen
