Fender Blacktop Jaguar 90

I'm interested in the Fender Blacktop Jaguar 90 that came our around Namm time, however there is next to no information on them online. Has anyone got or tried one? Opinions?

For the record I tried on of the regular Blacktop Jags and hated it, couldn't get it to sound anything like decent through a couple of amps.

I'd like to try the new Squier VM Jag (and JM) but can't seem to find any in stock over here. I could order sight unseen online, but would like to try first.

Are you in Gordon close to Berwick?

I'm close to Newcastle and recently asked Guitar Guitar in Newcastle itself by email if they had any VM Jazzmasters or Jaguars. They asked me which colours I'd be looking for and I said either a Sonic Blue JM or an Olympic White Jag.

What they proceeded to do was to order both in direct from Fender for me to try. It only took about 3 days for them to get the guitars in and I went to the shop to demo them. Both guitars were excellent (although in dire need of a setup) and I ended up taking the JM home.

They also have stores in Scotland (I think one in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow).

Hey Sammy, I am originally from Gordon, which is in Berwickshire but around 25miles or so from Berwick. I now live in Galashiels. I tend to buy most of my stuff from Guitar Guitar in Edinburgh, great shop and I'm now on first name terms with a couple of the staff.

I might just have to do likewise to what you have just done. I really fancy a white jazzmaster. Not so keen on the Jaguar, like the simplicity of the Blacktop version. Quite fancy a Mustang too, need to get up to Edinburgh over the weekend, will give them a buzz tomorrow & see what they have/can get in stock.

How are you liking the Jazzmaster? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?
