ShadowChancer July 22nd, 2012, 04:55 PM Hi tele heads , to get the most out your baby , what outboard gear do you favour ? I`ll take you through mine , I made up a pedal board for `live` use and ocasional recording duties , I chose a Kinsman board , which comes flightcased , very inexpensive , a bit flimsy for heavy touring etc but fine for most duties . Pedals are , Berhinger chromatic tuner , into Belcat blues driver , then Boss distortion for sheer dirt , DS-1 , therein to a belcat chorus and on into a boss CE-1 (classic) from there it heads into a Berhinger dual mode flanger , in mode 2 I run it all the time (nice transparent sound) in mode 1 , I`m a one man hawkwind , finally it all feeds into a belcat analog delay (brilliant unit) , I included a wiring hack to an old trusty friend my old Yamaha tuner (as a backup) I figure if your not in tune whats the point eh? simple rig but it works for general duties and the Belcat gear is killer good , super cheap and rugged as hell , think old MXR units , the whole show feeds in to my little studio , which in essence is controlled from my Acer Aspire 5742 laptop running Mixcraft (DAW) the finest recording package available for the dosh , it all works for me , lets see your rigs and hear your opinions on tele enhancing goodies . If I`m not going into the lappy I`m going into a Laney (built in UK ((the last of them)) LC15R valve combo , 50 watt tranny killer , super loud , 135973

Stinky Kitty July 22nd, 2012, 07:15 PM Since evolving my Nashville Tele, I have only glanced in passing at my pedal board. Some days I forget it's even there! Why mask the tasty goodness of the brat's sweet sweet sounds?
It's mostly stuff from Analog Mike. Starting from the right: Beano Boost > Sunface (NKT germanium) > Maxxon OD-9 Silver mod > AstroTone > MXR Phase 90 block (yuck - soon to be replaced by AM's univibe modded P45) > MXR Carbon Copy. I also use AM's chorus pedal, and an MXR chorus (mostly in effects loop when present). That's a 1976 Cry Baby on the far left, but I'm too much a spaz to use it well.

I do use the board when I take my Epi Tube Jr to rehearsals for convenience, but since tinkering with my Nashville Brat's pups (SD/SL SH-55 PAF neck, Lace Gold strat middle, stock TexMex (for now) bridge,) and getting my Vox NT15, the board has just been sitting there gathering dust...

This is an older pic of my pedalboard. I've put the Super OD in place of the DS-1 and moved the Blue Phaser pedal to where the SD-1 is now and added an MXR Wylde Phaser.
The chain is as follows: Wireless receiver > Tuner and MXR Classic Overdrive (Signal split, tuner not in signal chain) . SD-1 > MXR Distortion + > Maxon PH999 > Crybaby wah (Painted Sikorski Lime Yellow) > MXR Smart Gate > Amp input. Amp Send > MXR Wylde Phaser > MXR Micro Flanger > Boss Master switch to engage the MXR Micro Amp and Behringer delay as a solo boost > Volume Pedal > Echo Park Delay > back to amp.
I also have 2 rack processors that I've been using but will be pulling them now that I have a couple of good Choruses and EQs to incorporate into the rig. It's close to time to build a new pedal board...
The amp I'm using is a Marshall JMP-1 Tube Preamp into a Peavey Classic 50/50 tube Power amp.
Chautauqua July 23rd, 2012, 08:20 PM 72 Tele-Deluxe RI (or sometimes a 73 Deluxe if I'm feeling secure about the gig and where I can elave my stuff)
Guitar > Planet Waves 20ft 90deg head cord > tuner > Big Muff (an original green Russian monster about to be retired and possibly not replaced as the "lead channel" on my amp alone is so good at distortion...still, it's hard to live w/o a Big Muff medal so a possible "non-collector" version might replace it. ) > MXR Phase90 (new pedal, not always there...still on the fence about needing one) > Delta Lab DD1 Delay > > Crybaby Wah > Volume Pedal > Planet Waves 30ft. Straight jack cord > Peavey Classic 50-212 (with foot switch for channel switching/reverb cancellation) -> Ears (often overlooked part of ones "signal chain" aye  )
I'm still not too sure about the order my signal is in... any suggestions on swaps/moves???
Really I'm fine with Guitar>Tuner>Wah(>Delay - sometimes)>Amp so some of these things in one big chain are new to me as a big package (I've played with each an every combination individually (meaning no "board" just a single effect and my amp at little jams etc), but mostly I just play through my Guitar>Volume pedal>Wah>amp...
Just built myself A cool board that I need to paint and final assemble but it'll be nice to have a "pickup and go" set-up instead of a milk crate full of cords and pedals all wrapped up and what not... yeah, not pretty, but I keep'm protected.
Cheers
Dave

Longer July 23rd, 2012, 11:04 PM I have a few pedals, but one thing that's always on is my z-vex box of rock. The distortion is set low, around 8 0'clock, so it only distorts when I dig into the strings. For my style, it's a great match.

The Nashville Brat in all her toneful goodness:
Tone machine - SD/SL SH-55 Neck, Lace Gold Strat Middle, stock TexMex Bridge (Considering a David Allen Colt 51 replacement) > Tuner > Vox NT15 or HRDx

Chautauqua July 24th, 2012, 06:19 PM A good 25 Foot cord and my Carvin Amp, footswitch with clean/dirty, reverb, and boost. Soon to add a wah-wah!
Until I started acquiring these pedals in trades/buys and having band members ask for "this type of sound" or "that type of sound" in X song and Y solo etc...
I just rocked my Tele Deluxe > Peavey Classic 50 (foot switch for the AMAZING "lead channel" and Reverb on/off) > Audience and I still play that way a lot.
A very wise man once told me "don't HIDE behind your pedal board" and sometimes these days I feel I'm not embracing that great advice (he's also first person I ever hear say "sometimes it's the notes you DON'T play" so i take his advice seriously). I will say though, just a Wah and a Two channel amp is enough for most to gig with...
In fact in an oddly related note, after a little gig last night I'm probably going to run my pedal board as a "side loop" so it can be there if I want it, but so I can just have my Wah alone (or maybe I'll just leave it there but only run through my Wah so everyone THINKS I'm super-cool but in reality it'll just be my Wah and my amp   HAHAHAHAHAHAHA) ... Between playing slide and using a Wah, there's a lot of tones to be had out of a very simple set-up (not to mention attack pick-up selection etc.)... Plus you don't spend a ton of time being a shoegazer  ... I think people would be amazed to see how much more dynamic their playing would get if they looked up and connected with their audience and the band around them instead of a mess of stomp-boxes...
Oh and loaning your Fuzz Box to an inexperienced rhythm guitar player to give him a "boost" is a bad idea  but we live (or rather play) and we learn  .
Cheers
Dave
