'50's Strat pickup ?

I have a '50's S-style partscaster. I was wondering if anyone could recommend
a good set? I want a bright, snappy, percussive sound which is what i consider
to be a '50's Strat sound. I play though a PR clone. Any help at all would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S. Ash body.

Fender 57/62's. They're bright, snappy and as far as I'm concerned, the best strat pups on the market.

Duncan SSL-1 set or Fender 57/62s.

Yep, 57/62's are great. Sound like a Strat is meant to be, if you want vintage.

I use a set of Van Zandt True Vintage in my 57 RI and love them. If I had to do it again, I would probably buy a set of Lollars though. You might want to look into that.

What about the CS Fat '50 or the '69?

I've had both. Prefer the VZ's over the Lollars & i've had both the blondes
& the blackfaces.

Thanks for the replies.

The Kline Epic series are extremely accurate copies of different years of Strats and Teles. He finds exceptional versions of a pickup set and measures the Gauss of each magnet, the exact composition of the magnets and has the wire analyzed and cloned.

There are loads of great sound clips on his site. Also he puts certain sets on sale every month. I am waiting for the Nocaster to go on sale, but I think a few of the 50s sets are on sale now.

If you checked in on the Strat forum, you would be overwhelmed by recommendations
for D. Allen PU's. The 54/59's are just what you want. Unreal PU's at a fair price.

For the record I have no affiliation with Klein other than the Epic '57 Strat pickups I paid money for.

I am also a big fan of Don Mare pickups, but his 50's Formvar might be the best pickups I have heard for a Strat. I didn't mention it because it is just a bit hot and the OP didn't want that.
