Bridge location?

Fitting a Jazzmaster bridge to a tele.

Where abouts should I place it, I know about 12.75" from the 12th fret, But each saddle will be different when intonated, do I put it so the "closest" saddle (high e) at the ideal length or the furthest saddle (low e) at ideal?

Are they compensated closer or further from the nut?

Further.

Set the saddles towards the nut (3/4 of their range is a good place) when you place the bridge because intonation is all about lengthening the strings.
