G&L Tribute ASAT Special Premium Setup Spec's?

Guys, I just picked up a 2004 G&L Tribute ASAT Special Premium. The guitar is gorgeous, but is dusty, with old strings, so I want to do a thorough cleaning/polishing and do a fresh setup with D'Addario 10's.

I have checked out the GuitarsbyLeo web-site for setup info, but they don't have all the setup info in one place, and they don't specify whether the info applies to USA models and/or imports, and there's mention that the factory specs have been tweaked over the years.

For any 2004'ish Tribute owners out there, how are you setting up:

neck relief: capo 1st fret? adjust gap at which fret to what gap?

action: adjust gap at which fret to what gap at treble side? bass side?

9-inch radius gauge, right?

pickup height: fret last fret? same height for neck and bridge pickups?

Thanks for the help, guys.

I have both a fender tele and a G&L asat classic and a G&L classic tribute'', I would think
the setup for the G&L would be the same as a Fender, ie. neck relief, pup hight, and so on, so just use the spec's for a tele and you should be OK.

There should be lots of info at the G&L forum: www.guitarsbyleo.com

Oh, there's lots of info. The thing is, it's not very clear as to which models it applies.

I think it's very subjective. The ASATs are great because they can be more easily fine tuned IMHO, than Fenders, and that includes that bridge unit adjustment for better sustain, the pickup polepieces, etc. If you like to play more country shred, ala Brad Paisley or Johnny Hiland, you might prefer a slightly lower action. I play more of a bluesy rock style and I also play slide, so I need a medium action that won't rattle on the frets. The amps you use and your own touch should dictate your preferences, but the ASAT will allow you to get the exact tolerances you want without compromise.

How does this look?

NECK RELIEF
• Tune to A440 pitch.
• Install capo at 1st fret and depress 6th string at last fret.
• Adjust gap at 8th fret to .012".

ACTION
• Adjust gap at last fret to 4/64" (treble side), 6/64" (bass side).
• Adjust remaining saddles using 9" radius gauge.

PICKUP HEIGHT
• Remove capo.
• Depress 1st string or 6th string at last fret.
• Using rule, measure gap and adjust pickup height as follows:
Bass Side, 2/32"
Treble Side, 1/32"

Guys, on my Fender Tele's and my Schecter PT Standard, the action is adjusted with a capo on the first fret, then measuring at a given fret.

There's no mention of using a capo (or fretting a string) in the G&L manual when adjusting the action on a G&L guitar.

Is the action on a 2004 Tribute ASAT Special adjusted with or without a capo?

Thanks for the help.
