The Guitar Player Repair Guide BookDevincaster July 21st, 2012, 12:09 AM By Dan Erlewine. Does anyone own this book? If so would you recommed it? eMGee July 21st, 2012, 12:14 AM Can't recommend it enough. Lotsa stuff in there. If I could have only one book on setting up, maintaining, and repairing guitars, this would be it. dutchgoff July 21st, 2012, 12:20 AM I have it. Love it. A lot of the questions I see asked here are answered in that book and a whole lot more. To me it's nice to have something I can lay on the work bench to refer to. I've got a laptop in my shop and maybe I'm just to old school but books still seem faster to me. If you got a barns and noble or books a million it might pay you to look there. I got mine on sale for $7.95. tazzboy July 21st, 2012, 12:22 AM I have it. Great book. robhisgtr July 21st, 2012, 12:24 AM Can't recommend it enough. Lotsa stuff in there. If I could have only one book on setting up, maintaining, and repairing guitars, this would be it. +1! Devincaster July 21st, 2012, 12:24 AM I saw it at Barnes and Noble but didn't get a chance to look at it. You guys told me exactly what I wanted to hear Hopefully I can find a deal like you did! TeleToTheRain July 21st, 2012, 12:42 AM I also like The Players Guide to Guitar Maintenance by Dave Burrlock. It's rather simple but a great overview, especially when starting out. I still refer back to it from time to time. Devincaster July 21st, 2012, 01:01 AM I'll have to check that one out too. Ive always been really interested in learning how to setup my own guitar so I won't have to pay someone $50 everytime ... or $75 everytime I decide to change string gauge on a floyd rose lol. Paul in Colorado July 21st, 2012, 01:03 AM Get it! The bit on installing a Hipshot Trem-Setter was worth the price of the book. JohnK24 July 21st, 2012, 07:21 AM By Dan Erlewine. Does anyone own this book? If so would you recommed it? I bought it and find it horribly written as he weaves in and out of topics too much. He needed a good "ghost" writer, imho. I'm sure the guy is a genius, but the book appears scattered to me. KevinB July 21st, 2012, 09:24 AM It's a terrific book and I've recommended it many times to many people. It's not meant to be a novel with a consistent storyline, it's just a reference book packed with an amazing amount of knowledge and information. My copy is old from the 90's; the current one (that comes with a DVD) is the 3rd edition. It's probably time I upgraded. gitold July 21st, 2012, 09:26 AM His "How to make your electric guitar play great" is a good one to for beginners also. Dans the man. I also like how he gives you actual measurements from Famous guitar players so you can see how different everybody is in what they like. krueger July 21st, 2012, 01:57 PM Great to have it around Devincaster July 21st, 2012, 02:58 PM Well the I think it's time to check out amazon! |
