NGD for a friend - Very Happy Guitar Center SG Story......

Found this Faded SG at the 4th of July sale in Brookfield for $349.

I took an iPhone picture and sent it to my good friend in Chicago who is a busy school teacher.

The next day my friend told me to buy it for him.

I called the store - paid with a credit card. It was on 14 day Police hold (no need to run back to Brookfield in person; I couldn't have taken it home the same day anyway.)

I remembered that it needed to be cleaned up but it was in good shape. The neck pickup cut in and out a little but that's not a a big deal. The guitar was nice.

I picked the guitar up today. It's in really good shape. They fixed the pickup and I asked if they ever keep old gig bags. The manager told John the sales guy to give me a non inventoried gig bag. I got an old/OK Ibanez gig bag for free and it had a set of Fender Bullet 10's and hand full of picks in the bag. My friend in Chicago will be delighted.

I like going to the big GC sales. Nothing ventured; nothing gained. Now my buddy Tom had a Tele and an SG. Just think of all the trouble that he can get into now.

Bright sun on these pics - the finish is nice dark......

Tom is on a two week school research trip so we can't do the hand off for two weeks. I get to play his guitar for two weeks. (I feel terrible).

I have had nothing but great experiences at the Brookfield G.C. They may not have the best/widest selection in stock, but they have always done their best to get me whatever item that I want in a timely manner, and at a good price. I got hosed on a G.C.com deal and the manager at Brookfield went out of his way to make sure I left satisfied. I have become friends with a few of the people that work at that store over the years, and it is great to hear that they did right by you.

Nice SG by the way.

You cannot go wrong with an SG at that price. If I ever saw a deal like that I'd snap it up and deal with the consequences at home after the fact. You're a good friend John!

And that looks like a proper rosewood fretboard... none of that baked maple modern stuff! :-P

Nice!!
