4-Way Switch Help: No Bridge-Only...

Hey all

I'm wiring up a 4-way switch using Callaham's diagram, but I'm not getting position 4, bridge-only, to be bridge-only. Positions 3 and 4 sound identical, with both pickups active (tested my tapping with a screw driver). Here's a pic (my jumpers are bare wire, so look closely to see them as they kind of blend-in):

These are Lollar pickups, and they added the neck pickup ground wire. Callaham's wiring is:

Pos 1: Neck
Pos 2: Neck/Bridge Series
Pos 3: Neck/Bridge Parallel
Pos 4: Bridge

Here's really rough drawing of his wiring scheme:

For the life of me, I can't figure out what's wrong, and why I can get bridge pickup only to work. There are no solder overlays, no bridges...Ugh.

Thoughts?

Ha, figured it out: the switch channel on the pickguard wasn't allowing the switch to move all the way to the last position, so a little bit of finessing and fine-tuning got her working right!

I had the same problem when I installed a 4-way on my Tele. I solved it not by enlarging the slot in the control plate, but by notching the flat shaft on the switch itself. Works like a champ!

I was just getting ready to reply that your switch is wired identically to mine. Glad it's fixed!

That's a fairly common problem people encounter when installing a 4-way and you found it out so all is right. You're gonna love that extra tonal selection. Fender should just send them out of the door that way.
