Brian Krashpad July 19th, 2012, 10:32 PM Since I hadn't taken a proper group shot since 2005, I wasted a few hours last night with this:

Slightly closer up of the top row:

Closer up of the bottom row:
https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/487352_10151046700213879_689123887_n.jpg
Unobscured shots of the amps:

I originally planned to include acoustics, but ran out of space. As it was, for the top row I had to construct a platform out of some boxes lying about in order to get the last two up there.
Any questions gladly answered, including those regarding my sanity.

rhythmjones July 19th, 2012, 10:46 PM So awesome!
e-merlin July 19th, 2012, 10:49 PM Dig the law library setting! Wish I owned the Library of Congress....
I used to love to read until the Internet ruined that for all of us.
TeleMan59 July 19th, 2012, 10:58 PM You would have to be a lawyer to own all those law books!
studio1087 July 19th, 2012, 11:32 PM Very cool. You should have taken a picture of the pile of cases!
(Must have been a hugs case pile).
Amazing collection of guitars. Thanks for posting.

You are correct sir!
String Tree July 20th, 2012, 02:36 AM Nice books.
Whats with all that stuff in front of them?

Actually, since we use computers, the books and library are seldom used; most of the hardcopy subscriptions have been canceled as book rates have gone up and the economy got worse.
PapaLion July 20th, 2012, 05:35 AM Well it makes for a nice quiet recording studio with a wall of books? If you had just one guitar and amp set up in there it could be a lot of fun. Beyond being a lawyer you must be fit also... the time and energy to drag them all out and get the photo would be a lot:)
Nice shot.

Thanks yes, the books do soundproof the room well. We use it for after-hours practices for my band, Crash Pad. And yeah, it took the better part of an evening to uncase all that and get it set up, take pics, and then get it torn down and put away!
I lost 50 pounds last year as a result of an illness/treatment (throat cancer surgery, chemo, radiation), so now I'm a lean, mean rockin' machine!
Hoodster July 20th, 2012, 04:04 PM Only one Telecaster?
I have a problem not making EVERY one of my guitars be a Telecaster.

Ta mate! I'm very blessed to have lived long enough to amass all this junk!
Wolves supporter by chance? Blighty football is too difficult to follow properly from afar, but I do know that's your local side.

not a huge supporter. but i did live very close to the stadium until recently. I'm much more of a rugby supporter myself

Ooops--Sorry!! I did a quick look and only saw the 52. I guess I was expecting a higher ratio on this forum (given the usual family photos posted here), but it's an awesome collection and room by any metric!

Ah, I was a bit of a soccer player back in the day. Played on my high school team, and on a couple club teams at junior college/university level.
Brian Krashpad July 21st, 2012, 12:35 PM HOLY CRAP!
Yeah, I know, lots of crap!

No worries, I'm just messin' with ya.
gypsymoth July 21st, 2012, 12:40 PM what an unlawyerly collection - much of it is "regular" stuff, not highly sought after collector pieces.
the Kustom amp is a beauty.

Thanks, yeah, I'm really not into boutique-type quilty beauties with birdies and abalone and stuff. I prefer "workhorse" guitars. It's less a proper "collection" than simply an assemblage of what I've lucked into over the years. I'm a player first, so collectability is seldom a factor in purchasing decisions; I only consider it tangentially as a factor of how good a deal I'm getting re price-to-value.
A.B.Negative July 21st, 2012, 12:48 PM You're a lawyer and you don't have a PRS? Isn't that against the, er, law...?

Not formally, but it is frowned upon. Then again, I'm still playing punk rock and roll at 54, so I get a lot of frowns.
Don't make me no nevermind.
hemingway July 21st, 2012, 01:17 PM I'm guessing you're not married.
I only have 5 guitars, with a 6th build underway, and my wife is close to initiating divorce proceedings.
Unless I get rich quickly there's no way she's going to let me get any more.
And, frankly, she's right.

25 years this past May.

Man, they're gonna throw the book at you one day! Cool stuff.
Bulldog87 July 21st, 2012, 03:20 PM WOW! I love it! I'm totally digging the law library/guitar/amp shot! That looks about like my average day... law books... guitars/amps.... it could be worse.
stinkey July 21st, 2012, 03:53 PM Nice amp row!!!
Lots and lots of combinations. Can't be easy to chose, what guitar sound the best with what amp. Could take weeks! You lucky ducky!
hekawi July 21st, 2012, 04:11 PM Zow-wee! looks like a combination guitar store and law library! beautiful and impressive collection sir.

Thanks, yeah, people hear "lawyer" and assume "rich," which in my case is very far from true, but I am very very fortunate and blessed. I have a job, a silly number of guitars and amps, a rock band doing our own material with an album out, and a wife and employer who put up with me.
And in addition to all that, last year I had radiation and chemo for throat cancer (surgery the preceding November). In addition to being cancer-free since, I lost 50 pounds and am back to my ol' fightin' trim. I thank God for every day above ground, you can believe it!
Flaneur July 21st, 2012, 07:21 PM I like the fact that this isn't just another collection of Fenders and Gibsons. Loads of interesting variety in there.
Pleased to hear your are in good health and playing out regularly; nothing like the buzz of performing:-)
thorton077 July 21st, 2012, 07:48 PM So cool!
ReaL Madras July 21st, 2012, 08:35 PM Beautiful family.....but I would have been crapping myself having all those guitars end to end leaning against amps....one slip and there could have been domino effect guitar neck carnage.
Brian Krashpad July 21st, 2012, 10:54 PM Thanks lads.
Flaneur: I love Fender and Gibson, of course, but there's so much more out there. It's all fun!
RM: Actually, the ones on the floor weren't a problem. Between the carpet giving good purchase for their end-pins and the vinyl on the amps giving a solid connection to the headstocks or necks, they were all pretty solid.
The TOP row was another story, however. Those were the ones that proved problematic. Especially the guitars' bottoms/end pins. The tops of those tables were fairly slick, and the wooden edges of the bookshelves were no better.
There was no easy fix for the bottoms. I just had to place the guitars very carefully. For the top edges, if you look carefully you can see that I pulled individual volumes of the books out, beyond the wooden edges of the shelves, to hold the headstocks in place.
Necessity being the mother of invention and all.
6942 July 22nd, 2012, 12:57 PM Nice photos, thanks for sharing!
I gave away/sold most of my 'family', when I moved to a MUCH smaller home out West.
BTW: My younger Sister was a practicing attorney in the Orlando, FL area from 1980-2000.

Hardneck July 22nd, 2012, 01:53 PM Really eclectic collection there, wish we had ready access to all that variety over this side of the pond. And continued good health !!
Brian Krashpad July 26th, 2012, 03:02 PM Ta Steve and Hardneck.
Hardneck: I'm in a very good situation for buying here in Gainesville, Florida, which is probably superior to most areas in the States, with the exception of really big cities. Gainesville is a college town with a huge proportion of musos to normals, and many of those musicians are young and foolhardy. Optimal for a cagey cheap ol' bastard such as myself. ;)
