Does anybody have a picture of the springs/trem cavity of their '70s or very early '80s Strat? I bought player's condition 1981 "The Strat" pretty cheap and I'm having some minor problems setting up the bridge. I know that the claw is original, but I can tell that the screws for the claw have been replaced and the bridge removed at least once. The claw is screwed almost flush to the top of the cavity and bridge is still just a hair away from being decked and I prefer the bridge not float.

I know that there are at least two spring sizes over the years and I'm not sure if this has the original/correct springs or not. I don't recall my old 1972 Strat having the claw so tight to the neck side of the cavity, though it has been years since I owned Strat.

Thanks.

I remember "The Strat" having a big, heavy, brass bridge. I don't remember it being on any other model except maybe the the "Elite" from around that same time. It's been a long time since I've seen either, so I might be very wrong.

Anyway, the point I'm getting to is that you say the bridge has been removed at least once. Are you sure that the bridge is original to the guitar?
