Wanna help me w/my pedalboard? I knew you would!

So I don't use a lot of pedals, usually somewhere around five (for now, anyway), and I don't always have a need for all of them. Perfect example would be when I use an electric in a duo setting, or if I'm sneaking off to a jam. Purchased pedalboards are just a little too expensive for me, I'm cheap, so I made one for full band gigs. It's not the greatest, or the prettiest, but it does the job. My woodworking skills are very basic, so I thought since I have a jam coming up this weekend, I'd make a special pedalboard for it, and step up the workmanship. I have some scrap wood laying around, and really noticed what nice grain it while I measured and cut. The cuts and lines are about as straight as I'm going to get them, I did pretty good this time, but I think the grain creates a bit of an optical illusion that something's not right.

Anyway, I thought I'd stain the wood, giving it a nice "Telecaster" look, but I'm not sure what stain to use. I've also thought about going with a solid color like daphne blue or a metallic copper. The board has to be ready by Saturday, so I've gotta get the stain or paint, plus anything else, and start applying it tomorrow night. Here's what you're working with including the pedals going on the board. Thanks for the input, and any and all suggestions welcome!

You could match your guitar's color.

I thought about that. I have a BSB CV50, a white blonde Esquire, and a black 72 Tele Custom like you.

Here are my top three paints.
Blue Ocean Breeze
Copper Metallic
Stainless Steel

EDIT: I'm thinking of attempting a White Blonde to match my Esquire. Maybe a Pickled Oak stain with a touch of Classic Gray.

Hah. I saw the top pic and thought the board was massive!

Well, I know this isn't as glamorous as most of the other ones on here, but it's a fun project so far.

I went to Home Depot today since I have some store credit, fully expecting to find exactly what I need, but I should know better. Stores never seem to have exactly what I want, so I had to make due with what they had. I couldn't decide on a rattle can with a color I liked that was inexpensive, remember, I'm cheap, so I opted for a Stain+Poly combo that was on sale. Picked up some wood screws, rubber feet, a cheap brush, and some 9V batteries. Cost me $20. I'll put on another coat tomorrow, and the rubber feet and velcro on Saturday. It's coming together nicely.

Put the second coat on this morning, so by the time I get home, it should be ready for me to mount the feet and velcro. Think I'll try and buff it a little before all that. Can't wait to get it done.

Done! I didn't stain the bottom, but nobody's gonna see that anyway. I think the wood might be ever so slightly warped since it had a bit of a wobble before and after I installed all the feet. I didn't have any washers so I improvised with a relatively thin piece of cardboard under one of the feet which fixed the problem. It's not perfect, but its a lot prettier than my other one. I'm happy with the way the stain/poly came out. With one or two more coats, it would look pretty close to my BSB CV50. Anyway, here are the pics.
