So, I hear you get what you pay for, but... (Spiral Upcut Bit)

So I've been thinking about spiral upcut bits, and the $80-100 price tag, but suddenly stumbled on this...

Yonico brand, but it's carbide, and a template bit. Anyone own this? Is it legit? I have learned time and time again that you get what you pay for, but to get a spiral upcut for under $20 seems too good NOT to try...am I right?

EDIT: I should add that I realize this bit isn't 2" like the expensive ones, but I hear spiral upcut provides a much cleaner cut than conventional router bits. So with a 1 1/8" cutter height, that'll mean 2 passes. Still not too shabby, right?

are you looking for 1/4" shaft?

I have interchangeable collets. 1/4" 3/8" and 1/2" so can do most standard bits.

That's not a template bit... it's a flush trim bit. A template (or pattern) bit has the bearings at the other end of the cutter. I'm having a hard time imagining how you could do two passes with this...

I have one like that, its not possible to do the body in one pass but it works for the neck and is great for copying templates and pickguards.

Hmmm... You're right, it would work for those uses!
