1-spot to Battery converter thing / Fulltone OF-2 question [Archive]

The OF-2 requires a positive center pin power supply, so I can't run it with a 1-spot or other pedal power supply. I've never tried it, but I've read that a power supply will entirely shut off when you try to plug it in.

Well, I decided it should work to use the little 1spot-to-9v battery adapter that connects to the battery clip, but when I plug it in it still shuts off power to the whole 1spot. Is there any reason why this should be happening? I thought that that adapter made it just like using a battery.

The +/- polarity reversal is the same whether you are using a battery or an adaptor. So the 9v battery adaptor you used was still pin-negative, just like plugging it in to the regular adaptor.

The easiest solution is to just use a battery and unplug it when not in use. Otherwise you'll need a different adaptor, or a power supply that will allow you to use a reversed cable, like a PP2.

This type of effect doesn't have much current draw so a battery should last some time.
